Welcome To Valley R/C Model Club Website

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN RADIO-CONTROLLED MODELS?

If you live in the Valley area, Valley R/C is the Model Club to join. Valley R/C Model Club, Inc. was formed in 1965 to foster, expand, and perpetuate the practice of safe R/C modeling and the spirit of good fellowship among all modelers. VRCMC is an Academy of Model Aeronautics chartered radio control club. Our primary interest is flying model airplanes and helicopters. Some members also enjoy R/C cars and boats. Our membership is comprised of people of all ages and professions.

A bulletin board of Club activities is posted at our flying site in Round Top Park south of Athens, PA.

Contrary to much advertising, flying R/C aircraft is not a ‘buy today – fly tomorrow’ hobby. We can help you get a good start on a fun filled sport. Members will share knowledge and help you in the selection, assembly and flying of your first model.

Guests are always welcome at our bi-monthly meetings and at our flying field in Round Top Park,Sayre,Pa..

Weather Cancels Valley R/C’s Public Show

Severe wind gusts and stormy weather forced a cancellation of Sunday’s Public R/C show at the Round Top Park field…. the wind was the primary factor and just did not let up most of the day. Despite the cancellation several members brought  models to the field to be put on display just in case some of the “interested future modelers ” showed up , sure enough a few stopped by anyway to get a look at some great looking Airplanes and Helis. As of yet the event has not been re-scheduled . Check out the wind tie down for for Dr. Paul’s trainer plane !

Valley R/C Model Club Mowing Roster 2010

Contact Bruno Mahonski or Steve Luchaco with questions or comments.

Please check oil before starting mower and add if needed. (in shed on shelf)

Provide own gas for mowers except gas/oil mix for weed trimmer (in shed in gallon metal can).

Check tire air (pump in shed).

Report any machine problems to Bruno or Steve – spare belts shed. Mowers have new blades.

Mowing notes: Mow main runway and smooth areas with mowers at low setting. In perimeter and rough areas raise blade and beware of stumps & rocks. Use trimmer to keep area neat. Do not mow grass at the road end of the runway low. This is left high as a buffer between the runway and the fence/road. Same for the race car track end of the runway, leave a buffer of high grass.   Preferred Mowing Day is Thursday thru Saturday morning to have the field ready for the week-end. We will need to mow weekly from May thru the end of July, then bi-weekly thru September.

SAFETY FIRST when using all equipment !

FIELD MOWING SUGGESTION

Consider the flying field as made up of 2 sections:

1 – The main section is the part from the safety fence East out 150’ towards the woods.

2 – The second section is from the safety fence West back to the woods and out across the runway to the East.

It will save time, fuel, and mower wear if we only mow part of section 2 every time the field is mowed. The goal is to only mow what is needed and not let any of the grass get too high between mowings.

If unable to take your turn please find a replacement team THANK YOU !

Sunday, May 2 - The Ole' Blue Swan Airport

Despite overcast skies, crosswinds, and high spring grass, members were at the old Blue Swan Airport Sunday afternoon getting in some air time. Bill’s 120 mm E Fan Byron F-16 Jet had some trouble with lift off because of the high crosswinds and grass but next time out should be a go. Sure is a nice plane Bill! Dan’s E-Plane lost the battery during flight and with it hanging in front of the wing made the plane nose heavy… which caused a hard landing and resulted in a broken prop and landing gear…. Check out the photos!
