Valley R/C Model Club 2014 Banquet at Original Italian Grill -Feb.14

Eighteen members and guests had a fun evening out on Valentine’s Day week-end. Delicious meals were ordered from the Original Grill menu and the bar was kept busy serving sodas and fancier brews. Ron Huggler took lots of pictures of everyone except himself. We’ll re-use last years pic in our report. Members and guests in the pictures and not listed below included Eric & Peggy Phillips, Dean & Deb Luchaco, Trisha, Meghan & Alicia Luchaco and Missy Q.

President Paul Buckthal welcomed everyone and handled the men’s door prize raffle. Lucky Walter Lints won the only eleven months left to enjoy airplane calendar. All of the ladies also received a gift provided by Paul.

Next up was our new Vice President Vinnie Quartararo. He helped set up the banquet at the grill and was in charge of handing out the Flew Every Month in 2013 Nut Club Trophys. We had nine members who earned the Obama themed Big Brazil Nut Awards. They were Vinnie Q, John Kunte, Jim Ryan, Jim Spencer, Jim Champion, Dan Luchaco, Steve Luchaco, Walter Lints and Jeff Roark. The Nut Club was started in January 1975 and two club members have flown every month for all 40 years. They are John Kunte and Dan Luchaco.

Field Manager Steve Luchaco was next on the program with the Crash Award presentations. We had six members in the running for the Big Bent Prop, the Society of Aircraft Demolishers Plaque and the E-Plane Crash Collage. Crash points are earned as follows: 3 points for an unrepairable crash, 2 points for a crashed and repaired eventually incident and 1 point for crashed and repaired and flown again the same day. Members Dan L and Bruno Mahonski tied with only two crash points in 2013. John Kunte had five points and Paul Buckthal had lucky seven points. Next to last winner and recipient of the Big Bent Prop was New Member Jeff Roark with 14 Crash Points. The Winner of the E-Plane Crash Collage and the SAD Crash Plaque with 17 points was Walter Lints !

Dan Luchaco closed out the program with the Club’s Annual Report. We have 30 members on the roster including 4 who joined in 2013. New Member Jeff Roark & Judean and new Junior Member Sarah Champion. Rejoined Members Rick Bubniak and Tom & Shannon Bubniak.

Anniversary’s for members included Paul Rounds – 25 Years, Carl Shay – 10 Years and Pascal Liddane, Howard Mahady & Ron Huggler with 5 Years. Member Bill Cowles is our only Charter Member with 49 Years membership. In January 2015 Valley R/C Model Club will be 50 years young !

2013 Events included January 1 Flying, February Banquet, February Snow Fly, January thru March and October thru December Indoor Flying twice a month and the July 20-21 41st Annual Fun Fly Contest. Members also attended Shows and Events around the area as well as NY, NJ, OH & Canada.

In 2014 we will attend these same events and more. Lots of Flying and picnics at Round Top Park Field are also in the plans. In February 2015 we plan to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in grand fashion at another banquet !

Valley R/C Snow Fly Report – Feb. 16, 2014

Fun Cub Flt 2-9-2014aValley R/C Snow Fly Report – Feb. 16, 2014

Six Members spent some time at the VRCMC Snow Fly on Sunday afternoon. Paul Buckthal, Jeff Roark, Eric Phillips, Jim Spencer, Dan Luchaco and Steve Luchaco put up a few flights and tried to land as close to the road as possible. Those that landed out in the north forty got to do some cross country trudging thru the two feet or more of snow. The Valley Soccer Fields make a great flying site as long as you go around the various goals, structures and electric poles. Steve wanted to attempt a limbo pass under the goal piping with the Fun Cub but the owner of the FC put the stops on that plan. Jeff Roark became the first VRCMC pilot to fly a twin engine plane at the Club Snow Fly. All of the planes flown were E-powered because Vinnie was not at the event. All but one of the planes flown had floats and Eric left the wheels retracted on his Corsair. The 20F temps and mostly calm winds made for great flying weather. Not a bad day to get some outside flights with the Valley R/C Gang.
